Weather could delay Game 3 of the Phillies and Astros World Series with rain in the forecast
Rain threatens to push back or potentially postpone Game 3 of the World Series at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, originally scheduled for 8:03 pm ET Monday night.
Major League Baseball has been tweeting updates about its MLB Communications Twitter account (@MLB_PR) and will continue to do so throughout the afternoon.
At 5:23 pm ET, MLB officials met with representatives of both the Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros and with three independent forecasters at 5:00 pm ET, but the game has yet to be delayed or postponed . Another meeting will take place at 6:45 PM ET, about an hour and 20 minutes before the game’s original start time of 8:03 PM ET.
USA TODAY baseball writer Bob Nightengale reported at 5:05 pm ET that the tarp was out on the field at Citizens Bank Park.
MLB Communications also shared an update on Twitter at 4:12 PM ET that representatives from both teams and MLB would meet and that three independent weather experts will have rain in the forecast for Monday night in Philadelphia.
As of 5:34 p.m. ET, Weather.com had a high chance of rain in the forecast overnight, starting at 6 p.m.

If the rain persists through the night, Game 3 could be postponed until Tuesday, pushing Game 4 back to Wednesday and Game 5 to Thursday.
Thursday was originally scheduled to be a day off for travel, but with this being baseball’s last series in 2022, Major League Baseball has some flexibility to postpone games, if necessary.
