Flyers coach John Tortorella was kicked in the face by his horse
It’s been a rough week for Philadelphia Flyers coach John Tortorella.
During Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jackets, Tortorella wore a large gash under his left eye, the result of an apparent horse strike incident.
“It was a horse-kicking incident,” ESPN analyst and former Flyers goaltender Brian Boucher said on the broadcast. by phillyhockeynow.com. “… He said he was very lucky; it could have been a lot worse.”
Late in the first period of Philadelphia’s eventual 5-4 loss to Columbus, the team’s fourth straight loss, the coach took a jab when Boucher asked him to assess his team’s start to the game after conceding the first goal.
When asked what he wanted to see different outside of his club, Tortorella said, “Forecheck,” before ripping off his headphones to end the quick interview.
Tortorella is known for speaking his mind. Two weeks earlier, the former Rangers coach cursed the Toronto Maple Leafs from the bench, seeming to scream“f–k off, you motherf–ker” after a Zach Aston-Reese goal.
The Flyers face the Bruins on Thursday.
