Avalanche beat Hurricanes in OT despite being outshot 48-15

RALEIGH, NC — Arthur Lehkonen scored with 3:05 left in overtime, and the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 at PNC Arena on Thursday.

Lehkonen scored one time from the right faceoff circle off a feed from JT Compher.

Evan Rodrigues i Alex Newhook he scored, and Paul French made a game-high 46 saves for the Avalanche (9-5-1), who have won five of their last six games.

Martin Necas had a goal and an assist, Sebastian Oh he scored, and Antti Raanta made 13 saves for the Hurricanes (10-5-2), who have lost four of their last six games.

Rodrigues gave Colorado a 1-0 lead at 7:20 of the first period on a power-play goal when he scooped the puck up off a turnover and spun for the shot past Raanta’s glove.

Aho tied the game at 1-1 at 7:14 of the second period, scoring from the top of the right circle after a Necas layup.

Newhook made a long pass Josh Manson and scored on a backhand breakaway around the Raanta pad to make it 2-1 at 2:20 p.m.

Necas tied it 2-2 at 10:23 of the third period Jacob Slavin’s shot hit avalanche defense Andreas Englundhe took the puck and scored around Francouz’s outstretched leg.
