Gran Turismo 7 ’25th Anniversary’ update this week – GTPlanet
Gran Turisme series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has confirmed road Twitter that a new update is coming Grand Tourism 7 this week, curiously referring to it as the “25th Anniversary Update.”
The confirmation takes the usual form of a teaser showing some of the new content coming to the game in heavily disguised lighting conditions – the now famous “silhouette” image.
As we have seen through GT7The life of, with one exception, the image contains three vehicles but no clues about any other content. The approximate date for the week beginning November 21 is also confirmed:
The three cars in the picture seem to be relatively easy to identify this time. In the upper left corner we have the brand new and highly requested Ford Sierra RS Cosworth, given away by the huge “whale tail” spoiler. It’s not clear if this is the “base” model or the upgraded RS500 from the angle of the image.
Underneath is a Nissan Silvia S14, with the defined bonnet ridges marking it as a late-model ‘Kouki’ car and the aggressive rear spoiler suggesting it’s an ‘Aero’ model. This returning car sits next to the pre-facelift “Zenki” that was too Recently added to the game
The car on the top right is a bit more of a challenge to pin down, but it appears to be another new vehicle to the series – the F87 generation BMW M2. Again, it’s not clear from the image alone whether this is the original M2 or the M2 Competition that replaced it in 2019.
As always, we don’t know what other content or features this update will bring aside from these three cars, though the curious “25th Anniversary” name might tip fans toward some optimism.
Gran Turismo won’t officially be 25 years old until December 23rd this year, making the update a month early to bring this particular brand. Of course, this could mean we won’t see a standalone update in December, but it also suggests there’s more stuff inside this update to mark the milestone.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen any new song content, the most recent being the Catalonia variantsand only Watkins Glen arriving as a brand new location. With the Gran Turismo World Series 2022 World Final also this week, would be an ideal time to promote the game with a new circuit.
Fans are also looking forward to a key game feature, announced by Yamauchi in the game road map of the first life in March: car sales. This is yet to see the light of day, and surely cannot be far away.
While a specific date for the update hasn’t been revealed yet, it’s likely to arrive on the regular schedule of the last Thursday of the month. That means we can expect it on November 24, which is Thanksgiving in the US and the first day of the Gran Turismo World Series World Finals. Watch this space to find out more!
