Chiefs injury update: Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kadarius Toney, Juan Thornhill and Jaylen Watson
The Kansas City Chiefs he has defeated Los Angeles Chargers 30-27 Sunday Night Football, but the victory did not come without injuries to several players. In the postgame press conference, Chiefs coach Andy Reid heard from four players.
“Clyde [Edwards-Helaire] has a high ankle sprain, strained Kadarius Toney’s hamstring, [Juan] Thornhill has a strained left calf and then Jaylen Watson hurt his hand. We’ll see where it goes.”
If the Chiefs’ first drive is any indication, Edwards-Helaire seemed to be a bigger part of the game plan against the Chargers than in the Chiefs’ previous game. Jacksonville Jaguarswhen he had four snaps.
It is now unclear how many weeks he will miss.
“He’s a tough kid, but he doesn’t look good,” Reid said of Edwards-Helaire’s injury. “High ankle sprains are not always the best for running backs. We’ll see how he does in his recovery here. Right now it’s quite tender, yes.’
When asked if Edwards-Helaire would be placed on injured reserve, Reid said he didn’t get that far. The Chiefs are likely to give rookie Isiah Pacheco most of the load on Edwards-Helaire in his absence.
