The ground at FirstEnergy Stadium has been damaged by a person driving a cart
It’s the Cleveland Police Department investigating an incident It damaged the turf at FirstEnergy Stadium, News 5 Cleveland reported. According to the police, an attacker may have jumped a fence to take a cart to the field.
Various tire tracks can be clearly seen in the video from the news helicopter, AirTracker5, and some of the tracks appear deep. Grounds crews worked in the field Tuesday afternoon, using a road roller to smooth out the ripped-up soil.
“We are aware of the incident that occurred at FirstEnergy Stadium early Tuesday morning and have provided relevant information to the Cleveland Police Department,” the Browns said in a statement to the station. “Based on our internal assessment, there was superficial damage to the playing area, which is currently being repaired by our part of the grounds maintenance. We are very proud of the strong reviews and reputation of our stadium playing surface, we have reached out to the NFL regarding this matter and are confident it will be resolved. [that] our field will be ready for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.”
