Minnesota Wild News: Marco Rossi frustrated, but hanging on

Marco Rossi is like us. We’re certainly not an elite 20-year-old Austrian athlete who was drafted in the first round of the NHL entry draft and has had so much pressure on him over the past few months. If you’re exactly that, well, good for you. But Rossi and us Minnesota Wild The fans are the same in that we are both a little frustrated that the young rookie center back is not scoring and has struggled early in his league career.

We can feel frustrated but also understanding for not being able to come out of the gate roaring with points and already crowned the top center of the Wild. For a player who literally led the league in goals during the preseason, this drought is mind-boggling.

Because of that, some think a trip back to the AHL, to score some goals and regain some confidence, is a potential option. Rossi doesn’t really want to hear it and believes that just participating in NHL practices is reason enough to want to stay. We’ll see what GM Bill Guerin decides.

This is Wild

  • It’s not all about Rossi, but the Wild aren’t scoring at all. With that, and some higher expectations after a franchise year last season, Guerin is looking to acquire some top-six forwards via trade. So what are some names we should be looking for that we can be really realistic about? [Hockey Wilderness]
  • Not everything is sad! The Wild have improved their penalty kill. [10K Rinks]

Off the track…

  • Sometimes it’s good to remind ourselves that it could be a lot worse. The Philadelphia Flyers they currently have almost their entire front six forward group on the injured list and have lost their last seven games. [Broad Street Hockey]
  • Other teams are struggling too, so see what flaws need to be addressed. [ESPN]
