Eagles News: Signing Rob Gronkowski?

Let’s go Philadelphia Eagles links…

Eagles mailbag: Should Howie Roseman look to add tight end down the stretch? – PhillyVoice
I think players like Ndamukong Suh, Linval Joseph and Robert Quinn are pretty easy to plug into your scheme. The same can probably be said for running backs, as long as you’re not asked to do too much in pass protection. It appears the Eagles were interested in trading him back at the deadline. I think it’s harder to add players midseason at other positions, and tight end would fall into that category for me. Ebron is an interesting name for the reasons you stated, but he also finished the season on injured reserve a year ago. Is he healthy? I wouldn’t know. I think if there was one guy who could make an impact if you were to come out of retirement (assuming he stays in proper football shape), it’s Rob Gronkowski. He’s a goofball off the field, but there’s no doubt he’s a savvy and smart player. At the very least, he’d be a good blocker, and give you upside on third down and in the red zone. That would be a pretty incredible luxury pickup for the range, in my opinion.

Eagles Injury Report: AJ Brown misses practice, DeVonta Smith limited – BGN
One player DID NOT PARTICIPATE in practice: AJ Brown. Brown was out due to illness. He would think he would be fine to play on Sunday night. Two players were listed under LIMITED PARTICIPATION for reasons other than rest. Those players were DeVonta Smith and Josh Jobe. Smith is a new addition after not being listed in Wednesday’s report. Smith entered two days of practice last week before fully practicing on Friday and playing on Sunday. You’d think he’d play against Green Bay.

Being Thankful – Iggles Blitz
Jalen Hurts – The Falcons and Steelers He had picks close to the Eagles in the second round in 2020. Fortunately, both teams outlasted Hurts. Atlanta picked up DL Marlon Davidson, who has a career start. The Steelers took Chase Claypool. He showed great talent, but was inconsistent and was traded to the Bears. Both teams would love to make a trade and get Hurts. The Eagles took a lot of criticism for drafting Hurts. It’s fair to question the wisdom of the move based on how things were at the time, but boy did it work as a long-term move. The Eagles found their QB and didn’t have to spend a lot of resources to do it.

Bold prediction: Jalen Hurts will only hurt the Packers with his arm, not his legs. Green Bay has had more than a full week to prepare its dual-threat starter, who is only the third quarterback since the 1970 merger with 30 passing touchdowns and 20 rushing touchdowns. Even though his defense has been terrible this season, the Packers won’t let Hurts score on the ground.

QB futures for all 32 NFL teams: Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and other not-so-simple scenarios – The Athletic
Jalen Hurts is eligible for an extension this offseason. He remains under contract for $1.3 million through 2023, with no option for a fifth year in 2024 because he was not a first-round pick. The Eagles could use the franchise tag on Hurts if they want to buy time after next season. They could also enter an extension, but after regretting the deal with Carson Wentz, will they rush into a deal? [BLG Note: I actually think how the Wentz deal went will not scare the Eagles off since they were able to effectively move off of that.]

Each NFL team’s highest-ranked rookie before Week 12 – PFF
PHILADELPHIA EAGLE. Top-rated Rookie: DI Jordan Davis (78.4). Davis has only played in seven games due to injury, but has shown his dominance as a solid run defender. His PFF stat sheet has seven run stops and four tackles for loss en route to a 77.7 defensive rating — ninth best among all inside linebackers.

NFL Week 12 Preview: Top plays, top questions, predictions – SI
Page: Packers upset Eagles on Sunday Night Football. While they won’t necessarily save their season, I think where Green Bay is and where Philadelphia is are great opportunities for Aaron Rodgers and Matt LaFleur. They’ve been looking for a ball-control game all season, and after watching the Commanders and Colts match the physicality of the Eagles, you’d think the Packers have a chance with their talented platoon of running backs.

The class is at Jeff Stoutland University –
On Sunday Night Football, when fans tune in from home to support their beloved Eagles, the broadcasts are guaranteed to bring out a smile, even from kickoff. When the starting lineup is announced and Jordan Mailata’s face flashes across the screen, he proudly says, “Jeff Stoutland University,” instead of a college. Mailat did not make his way to the NFL. The 6-foot-8, 365-pound natural athlete first played Australian Rugby, competing at professional level earning a league berth for the South Sydney Rabbitohs. The Eagles received the award in 2018 in the seventh round of the NFL International Pathway Player Program before ever playing a game of football. Offensive Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator Jeff Stoutland first met Mailata in 2018 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, hoping to instill some football knowledge into the young player. Since then, he has coached a starting left tackle on the Eagles’ offensive line, considered the best in the league. “He seems a little intense at first, but once you really know who he is and his approach and the way he takes care of players, it doesn’t matter what round they had you, if you’re undrafted, he coaches you. in the same way as it does with the headlines”, said Mailata.

Packers Injury Report: TE Robert Tonyan has not missed practice with illness – Acme Packing Company
On Thursday, Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur revealed that the illness floating around the Packers locker room this week is the flu. On Wednesday, safety Tariq Carpenter, receiver Randall Cobb, kicker Mason Crosby, safety Rudy Ford and offensive tackle Rasheed Walker were either limited or did not participate in practice with a listed illness. Today, Robert Tonyan joined the tight end after being a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.

Odell Beckham Jr. to visit Cowboys on Dec. 5, according to reports – Blogging The Boys
Thanksgiving game Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants It was being called the Beckham Bowl in some circles. Both franchises have Odell Beckham Jr. they are interested in signing the free agent, and Beckham is said to be trying to decide where he would play. He wants to go to a competitor and the idea was that he would give a leg up to convince the winner of this game to sign. Advantage, Cowboys. Dallas beat Beckham’s former team, the Giants, 28-20, and is now set to sign the free-agent wide receiver on Dec. 5.

Giants-Cowboys ‘things I think’: Giants have strayed from their winning ways – Big Blue View
That formula has included winning the turnover battle, which they did. However, it also included winning on third downs (and fourth downs) and in the red zone, playing flawless football and taking advantage of opportunities. They couldn’t do those things against the Cowboys. As a result, the Giants lost a game. We’ve talked a lot lately about how narrow the Giants’ margin for error is, especially as injuries have piled up. Thursday was an example of how the Giants, as sharp, determined and resourceful as they are, can’t miss opportunities and stick to the script when they’re having a hard time hanging with good teams. The Giants missed opportunities throughout this game. On Jame Gillan’s first punt, Nick McCloud missed a chance to stop at the Dallas 1-yard line, only to drop the ball into the end zone. The day started “almost” full for the Giants. Dallas turned the ball over at its own 40-yard line on its first possession of the game, a strange decision that coach Mike McCarthy overturned. The Giants were able to convert a 57-yard Graham Gano field goal, though a 24-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Jones to Isaiah Hodgins was nullified by a questionable man-on-the-line rule against right tackle Tire Phillips.
