Colorado is offering Deion Sanders more than $5 million annually while the coach mulls a landing spot


This is widely expected Jackson State coach Deion Sanders will announce his plans for the future on Saturday after facing the Tigers Southern University in the 2022 SWAC Championship Game. Sanders has been linked with jobs at Colorado, Cincinnati and South Florida Prime himself confirmed the job offer from the Buffaloes.

Now we can know how much the offer is worth.

Colorado offered Sanders over $5 million annually, CBS News Colorado reports. The offer is said to include some pay incentives, and while no specifics are available, the incentives could allegedly increase his salary by around 40%.

This was reported by ESPN on Friday night that Sanders is already laying the groundwork for the staff and players he will target on the Colorado transfer portal. The transfer portal will officially open on Monday, even though several players have already announced their intention to switch programs.

The proposal makes sense given that Sanders has been both successful and prominent in Jackson’s home state. He is 26-5 in three seasons with the Tigers and is 11-0 this season. Sanders has also hired some of the best talent in the country, including Travis HunterNo. 1 recruit in the 2022 class.

Colorado appears to be hoping Sanders can do the same for a program that won a national title in 1990.

Colorado fired coach Carl Dorrell in October after an 0-5 start to the season. Dorrell led the program during a COVID-shortened season after Mel Tucker unexpectedly left the program State of Michigan work Things got off to a pretty good start, with the Buffaloes going 4-2 in the play-shortened 2020 season, but lost 13 of their next 17 games. The 2020 season is one of only two seasons in the last 15 in which the Buffaloes have reached a bowl game.
