Hall of Fame corner Deion Sanders may eventually become an NFL coach. Along the way, apparently, he will be the head coach at the University of Colorado.

ESPN.com’s Pete Thamel reports it’s Sanders preparing to accept Colorado head coach job.

According to the report, multiple sources say “Sanders and his associates have spent the week making calls to potential members of the pitching staff and support staff positions to join Boulder.”

At the school, there is “wide expectation” that he will accept the job this weekend.

“They’re not doing much to hide this,” an unnamed staff source told Thamel. “If he backs out of this deal, it would be a big problem for Colorado.”

Cincinnati was also believed to be in the mix for Sanders, who has coached Jackson State for three years. He has a 26-5 record there, including 11-0 this season. Jackson State will play Southern for the SWAC title on Saturday.

After the game, it looks like Sanders will be hitting the road for good.
