Robert Saleh: CJ Mosley is “very, very underrated” as one of the best defensive players in the NFL
The Jets’ defense is playing as well as any in the NFL right now, but coach Robert Saleh says one player isn’t getting enough credit: CJ Mosley.
Saleh thinks Mosley should be a defensive player of the year candidate, and he doesn’t get the credit he deserves.
“It’s very, very neglected,” Saleh said. “He’s as good at interviewing as anyone. As good as anyone.”
It’s been a long road for 30-year-old Mosley to get to this point. When he signed a five-year, $85 million contract with the Jets in 2019, the team had big plans for him, but he played just two games in his first season with the Jets due to injuries. He then ruled out the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and there were questions in New York about whether he would ever make the impact he should have. But Mosley started 16 games with the Jets last year and has started every game this year.
And now the Jets are playoff contenders, and Saleh says Mosley deserves it as much as anyone.
