ARLINGTON, Texas – No. 4 TCU is in a tight battle with No. 10 Kansas State, trailing 21-17 late in the third quarter. The Frogs were on the verge of a touchdown in the final quarter after a key pass interference call against Quentin Johnston set up a potential touchdown, but the Wildcats defense intercepted.

Kansas State physically dominated the game behind a strong effort from quarterback Will Howard. The backup team threw a pair of touchdowns and ran for another to give Kansas State the lead in the fourth quarter. Running back Deuce Vaughn was held to 76 all-purpose yards, but several came in key spots. The Wildcats lost several starters as they look to end the upset as top receiver Malik Knowles, left tackle K.T. Leveston and corner back Ekau Boye-Dou left the game with injuries.

TCU got off to a bright start, but punted several times before losing to set up another Kansas State score. However, the game turned after a TCU punt was muffed and recovered deep in Wildcats territory. Duggan set up Kendre Miller’s rushing touchdown to extend his rushing game streak to 14, trailing only LaDainian Tomlinson.

A trip to the College Football Playoff is on the line for TCU in this conference title tilt. The Horned Frogs became the first Big 12 team to finish the regular season undefeated since the league switched to a round robin system in 2012, and they can seal their first trip to the CFP with a win. Although TCU can make the playoffs win or lose Saturday, he will no doubt prefer his berth to be assured.

Just don’t expect Kansas State to help TCU reach its goal. The Wildcats were up 28-10 against the Frogs in their matchup earlier this season before suffering injuries at quarterback.
