Why Arkansas’ Dowell Loggains is the Gamecocks’ best OC candidate
Arkansas tight ends coach Dowell Loggains has risen to the top of South Carolina’s list of candidates for the offensive coordinator job, multiple sources told 247Sports on Tuesday night. confirming a previous report from The Big Spur. Loggains, 42, will replace Marcus Satterfield, who left this month at the end of his two-year contract to join Matt Rule’s staff at Nebraska. For those unfamiliar with Loggains, he spent the last two seasons with the Razorbacks and is a former quarterback for the program and an Arkansas native.
Sources tell 247Sports that Gamecocks coach Shane Beamer doesn’t see South Carolina’s current philosophy as a rebuilding project and believes a streamlined pro scheme with fewer personnel groupings is what the Gamecocks need moving forward. This is where Loggains comes into play. The latest on the OC Gamecocks situation via The Big Spur insiders can be found here.
