Boston Celtics center Robert Williams could make his season debut against the Warriors

We are officially in the holiday season and it looks like it Boston Celtics We want you to get into the festive spirit early this year because, according to a report by Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe, it looks like robert williams could make his season debut on saturday december 10 against the Golden State Warriors.

Interestingly, the sixth game NBA Finals it was the last time we saw Williams don a Celtics jersey in a competitive environment, as the Celtics fell to a 103-90 defeat to end their season. Williams played 33 minutes in that contest, scoring 10 points and grabbing 7 rebounds.

Unfortunately, we never got to see the Louisiana native at his best during last season’s playoffs, as he had recently returned from surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee and was considerably tame compared to the its same usual game changer. After trying to rehabilitate the knee all summer, it became clear Williams would require a second surgery to “remove loose bodies and address swelling,” sidelining him for the first three months of the season.

During that time, Boston has undergone a bit of a transformation, losing Ime Udoka to a team-implemented suspension and then adopting a new offensive system implemented by interim head coach Joe Mazzulla, a system that has seen the Celtics become a historically good offensive team and accumulate a record 21 wins in their first 26 games.

However, for all the improvements we’ve seen in the Celtics’ offense, their defense has been much slower to round into form, and it’s only been in the last week that Boston has been ranked in the top 10 in defensive classification. The Celtics will hope that Williams’ return to the rotation begins to mark a sharp increase in their overall defense; after all, he finished last season as an All-NBA Defensive Second Team selection and is one of, if not the best, blocker and shot stopper in the NBA.

Granted, we’re unlikely to see Williams at his best for at least a month as he begins to reacclimate to the speed and physicality of the NBA, but once he’s back in shape, the Celtics will be significantly improved. on both sides of the ball, and that’s a scary proposition for the rest of the league.
