Texas OL Junior Angilau enters the NCAA transfer portal
Texas Longhorns the Anguillas redshirt junior appeared on the NCAA transfer portal on Monday.
The 6-foot-6, 311-pounder was slated to start a fourth straight season when he injured his knee during the first scrimmage of preseason camp. Despite the injury, Angilau received praise from Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian for continuing to work with the team and serving as a de facto assistant coach, mentoring the team’s young forwards.
A product of Salt Lake City, Angilau was a consensus four-star prospect ranked as the No. 125 nationally and No. 10 offensive tackle in the 2018 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite. Anguilla was chosen by Texas over offers from Alabama, BYUOregon, USC and Utah, among others.
After redshirting in 2018, Angilov earned a starting quarterback role in 2019, starting all 12 games. Angilau switched from left guard to right guard the following year, starting all 10 games before playing six games at each position in 2021. In total, Angilau started 34 games for the Longhorns.
Angilov now becomes the 11th Texas player to enter the portal or announce his intention to do so after the regular season ends.
