Cullen DeBoer sat down with the media and expressed his deep satisfaction with how well his 2023 University of Washington football recruiting class went.
Looking at social media posts, Husky followers couldn’t help but be giddy with the more than two dozen announced signees.
So, with the head coach and fans agreeing to this, how will these UW recruits fare with the various national analysts?
Of the four leading organizations that weighed and ranked this annual college football talent pool, the SI All-American gave the Huskies the highest score in its Top 25 ranking — tying them for 22nd, which was two spots higher than the next best slot for DeBoer and company.
Of the others, Rivals.com was next and ranked UW 23rd, while CBSSports.com and On3.com ranked the Huskies 27th.
John Garcia, SI All-American Director of Football Recruiting, whose story you can read hereacknowledged the late work done by the Huskies to come up with a number class for them.
“Another program that performed well in December, Washington continued that momentum Wednesday by leaving Caleb Pressley at home. The only ounce of negative news coming out of Eugene was a long-term commitment to the Oregon Ducks. Locking up wide receiver Teshawn Lyons a few days earlier also stands out as UW’s recruit throughout the stretch.”
For those wondering what it might have taken to lift the Huskies even further, South Dakota quarterback Lincoln Kienholtz’s late transfer from UW to Ohio State has undoubtedly held them back.

Quarterback signings always carry a lot of weight in rankings like this — and DeBoer’s staff decided to go without quarterbacks this recruiting cycle once Kienholtz moved on from his commitment to Montlake.
The late signing of Presley, a 4-star cornerback, the No. 1 recruit in the state of Washington and transfer from Oregon back to UW, undoubtedly had a big impact on the Huskies facing others in the SIAA’s top 25.
Of the other Pac-12 teams named to Garcia’s national list, Oregon ranked sixth, USC 13th and Utah 24th.
