Michigan vs. TCU score: live updates, college football playoff results, 2022 Fiesta Bowl coverage

The College Football Playoff semifinal at the Fiesta Bowl has turned into a modern-day epic, and while the final result may be more in line with the 13 previous semifinals, with 16 decided by double digits, it won’t be without excitement. Heading into the fourth quarter, No. 3 TCU still leads No. 2 Michigan, but now at 41-30 after a wild 44-point third frame.

There was a lot that went right for Michigan in its efforts to cut a 15-point halftime deficit. The Wolverines had a second interception by Max Duggan and finally found the end zone early in the quarter only to add two more touchdowns of the same glory. But there was a response from TCU at every turn, including back-to-back successful passes after Michigan’s first goal midway through the third quarter and then a second pick by JJ McCarthy on the next possession. McCarthy offered his own answer with a long touchdown run, but even that was answered by TCU with another quick score.

After scoring just 27 total points in the first half, the third quarter alone yielded 44 points as Michigan outscored TCU 24-20 to cut the deficit to 11 points. If the Horned Frogs can hold on, it will be the biggest upset in the CFP; if the Wolverines find a way to win, it will be the biggest comeback in CFP history. Either way, it’s going to be an eventful fourth quarter.
