Details on reasons for Patriots Jake Bailey, Jack Jones suspension revealed

An NFL personnel memo made the revelation Friday The Patriots were suspended puntist Jake Bailey and the corner Jack Jones. The suspensions were back to December 31.

Both players were moved from injured reserve to reserve/eligible.

Since then, some details about the reasons have emerged.

Bailey returned to practice from injured reserve on December 21, and participated in portions of practice over the next two weeks. ESPN’s Mike Reiss reports that the team’s suspension is “due in part.” to different points of view If Bailey was ready to return to game action.’

Bailey went on injured reserve on Nov. 19 with a back injury.

Jones emptied his locker into a large bag last Friday, Reiss said, and his suspension is related to Jones being fined by the team for missing rehab appointments.

Jones’ agent, Jamal Tooson, released a statement calling it a “miscommunication.”

“Jack is focused on recovery and getting back to helping the Patriots as quickly as possible,” Tooson wrote. “As for the suspension, it appears to be based on miscommunication regarding Jack’s rehabilitation process. I hope we can reach a resolution that is favorable to Jack and the Patriots.”

Jones went on injured reserve on Dec. 31 after injuring his knee in the Week 14 game against the Cardinals. That’s the rookie’s last game.

Both players have two game controls at stake, and Bailey’s suspension could threaten future guarantees on the four-year, $13.5 million extension he signed in August.
