According to Jim Salisbury, the Phillies they are working on a trade to acquire Gregory Soto from the Tigers. It’s been a pretty quiet few weeks for the Phils, but they’re starting the new year strong.
The Phillies are set to acquire Gregory Soto
Jon Morosi would soon add some additional details, including which players the Fillies could waive.
This is no secret the Phillies craved some relief pitcher help Soto, 28, would be a great addition to the team. He’s a two-time All-Star who racked up 30 saves for Detroit last year, along with a 3.28 ERA.
The Phillies waive Nick Maton and Matt Vierling may be hard to stomach for some fans, as the two came across as extremely likable characters in the locker room. Being able to trade some key bench names for a player as impactful as Soto would be huge for the Phils.
