Braunschweig New Yorker Lions sign DB Matt Soldner

Braunschweig New York Lions head coach Troy Tomlin signed quarterback Matt Soldner to a contract through the 2023 season.

The versatile 6’0″ 200-pound defensive back from cold springs, Minnesota spent the 2022 season with Pforzheim wild dogs Art German Regional League (III Division) helping the team to a perfect 12-0 season and rising to the GFL2. He finished the season with 90 tackles and seven interceptions.

Soldner began his collegiate career by spending two years in junior college at Central Lakes College (NJCAA Division-III) in his home state Minnesota. He had 15 receptions for 174 yards and two touchdowns in the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

After developing for two seasons in the Central lakesSoldner completed his education and college playing time at Adams State in 2021 (NCAA Division II). He moved to the defensive side of the ball his senior year, where he recorded 34 tackles while playing linebacker and safety.

The 26-year-old safety looks to add to his flash and ball-throwing ability Lviv secondary. During the game for Pforzheim, Soldner has also been a part of the special teams unit as a long carrier and punt returner, so the US import has the opportunity to contribute Braunschweig too.
