PJ Fleck is reportedly adding to the MAC coordinator staff
PJ Fleck is reportedly adding a MAC coordinator as Minnesota’s new tight ends coach.
Andrew Sowder, who served as the offensive coordinator under Sean Lewis at Kent State, is expected to take over the tight end job with the Gophers, according to multiple outlets.
Pete Temel was the first to share the news.
Souder, an AFCA 35-under-35 member, led an exciting Kent State offense that was known for its fast-paced game and commitment to vertically stretching the field.
In each of the past three seasons, Sowder has led an offense that has ranked among the top two in the MAC in total offense.
Before coming to Kent State, Sowder served as the offensive coordinator at San Jose State.
He previously coached receivers at Eastern Illinois (FCS) and Bowling Green and was a quality control coach at Texas helping with receivers before taking over as San Jose State’s offensive coordinator.
Sowder hit the market when Kent State decided to hire Minnesota assistant head coach/defensive backs coach Kenny Burns after head coach Sean Lewis left for Colorado to become a part of coach Prime’s offensive game.
