Michigan football co-offensive coordinator Matt Weiss has been placed on leave following a police investigation

ANN ARBOR, MI. – This is reported by ESPN Michigan Wolverines joint offensive coordinator Matt Weiss was placed on leave following a police investigation into computer access crimes.

The University of Michigan Police Department said in a statement to ESPN on Tuesday (Jan. 17) evening that the access crimes occurred at Schembechler Hall.

Weiss was away from the team and not on the Wolverines’ recruiting trail.

“I am aware of the ongoing investigation by the University of Michigan Police Department and I am cooperating fully with the investigators,” Weiss told ESPN. “I look forward to the matter being resolved. Out of respect for the integrity of the investigation, I will not comment further.”

ESPN reports that one of Weiss’ neighbors said that many unmarked cars have been showing up outside the Ann Arbor joint offensive coordinator’s home in the presence of police.

The search is believed to be related to University of Michigan police investigation.

“The University of Michigan Police Department is investigating a report of computer crimes that occurred in Schembechler Hall on December 21-23, 2022,” University of Michigan Police Deputy Chief Crystal James told ESPN. “As this is an ongoing investigation, there is no additional information to share.”

After being hired by Michigan State University, Weis helped lead the Wolverines to the College Football Playoff back-to-back seasons as an assistant and quarterbacks coach for two seasons.
