Saints DE Cameron Jordan wins appeal of bogus injury fines

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana — New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan He has successfully appealed a $50,000 fine after being accused of faking an injury. Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December 5

The NFL also overturned separate fines against the team, head coach Dennis Allen and defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen, a source told ESPN.

In a text to ESPN, Jordan questioned why it took so long for the NFL to make a decision. His appeal was not heard until the end of December and the results took several weeks after that.

Jordan also questioned the process, suggesting that interviews and investigations into the situation take place before the fine is announced.

“Why doesn’t the NFL ‘committee’ or whoever wrote this memo have a team that looks at every single situation about fining defensive players for being offended ‘delaying the game’?” [team doctor] check the rehab status, interview first before announcing the fine,” Jordan suggested.

Jordan has been adamant he did nothing wrong and said last month he felt his integrity was being questioned after the league accused him of faking an injury late in the 17-16 loss to the Buccaneers. The Saints organization was fined $350,000, Allen $100,000 and Nielsen $50,000.

The Saints were leading the Buccaneers 16-3 in the fourth quarter when Jordan looked down the sideline and dropped to one knee. It happened after the Buccaneers tried to sack the quarterback Tom Brady on third and 17. Jordan fell to the ground during the rush, got back up and went to his knees, pointing to his leg before walking off the field with athletic trainers when the Buccaneers punted.

Jordan went into the injury tent and didn’t return until four plays into the Buccaneers’ next drive. He later explained that he felt unable to push off his left foot.

Jordan said he had to spend the next week rehabbing his swollen leg when the Saints bye and underwent an MRI, but he returned to action. Atlanta Falcons Two weeks after the Buccaneers game.

“Here’s a full MRI that says I was really hurt, and that was crazy, that somebody can tell you, not how you feel, but how bad you are really hurt,” Jordan said before the Falcons game. “Not even the elephant in the room, to meet the apparent fine you catch injured, sorry I’ve tweaked something on my feet?”
