Newcastle have agreed a fee for West Ham’s Harrison Ashby
Newcastle United have agreed a deal worth up to £3m West Ham United right defender Harrison Ashby.
The 21-year-old has been a long-term target for Newcastle and the club came close to signing him on deadline day of the summer window. They already had one rejected offer this window.
Ashby is due to undergo a medical on Monday and is still out of contract.
Newcastle were looking for a young right-back to give him competition Kieran Trippierwho signed a one-year contract on Friday.

There are current alternatives to the club Emil Kraftwho is rehabilitating after a long injury, and Javier Manquillowho was reluctantly selected by head coach Eddie Howe.
Ashby is a Scotland Under-21 international and has become his Major league made his debut for West Ham last season.
This is the second transfer Newcastle have agreed this window Everton winger Anthony Gordon ready to join the club for £40m.

Both Gordon and Ashby are carrying out sporting director Dan Ashworth’s task of rejuvenating Newcastle’s squad and adding players to meet their homegrown quota.
Ashby is not a cup tie and will therefore be eligible to play in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Southamptonwhen the transaction is completed.
