Canaan boys and girls mixed ice hockey Greenwich, Stamford co-op

The New Canaan ice hockey teams skated to a doubleheader Saturday night at the Darien Ice House.

The boys scored two goals in each of the first two periods to defeat Greenwich 4-0 in the opener, and the girls broke open a scoreless game with six goals in the third period to beat the co-op Stamford/Westhill/ Staples in the game. two

This second win gave the New Canaan girls some revenge for a 3-2 loss to SWS earlier this season. The Rams have won six in a row since that loss.

The New Canaan boys (9-2-1 overall, 4-1-1 FCIAC) got a goal and an assist each from Brayden Robie, Doster Crowell and Tony DelCarmine in their win over Greenwich (5-7-0, 2-4). -0).

Goaltender Mason Pickering collected 18 saves to earn the shutout, while Greenwich’s Cole Studwell made 35 saves. New Canaan outshot Greenwich 39-18.

In Saturday’s second game, New Canaan and SWS went scoreless in the first 30 minutes, but the Rams were unstoppable in the third.
