iRacing World of Outlaws Carquest Auto Parts Sprint Car Series Race Preview: Charlotte – iRacing.com

The iRacing World of Outlaws Carquest Auto Parts Sprint Car Series closes out its 2022-23 season with a return to The Dirt Track in Charlotte, with a $25,000 purse up for grabs and a talented group of drivers vying for the championship. As always, the action can be seen live at 9:00 PM ET twitch.tv/iracing and DirtVision.

Last race: The penultimate round of the season saw the drivers square off at Weedsport, and the results were anything but expected. Points leader Alex Bergeron finished the lead lap and second place entry Timothy Smith didn’t even transfer into the feature, allowing Tyler Schell to jump into second place in the standings and James Edens to remain mathematically eligible for the title. In the main event, Dylan Yeager took the lead from Edens with 11 laps to take the win, joining a short list of drivers to claim victories in both of iRacing’s World of Outlaws professional series (sprint cars and recent models).

Last season: The traditional series finale in the virtual world as in the real world, Charlotte saw 2021-22 champion Cameron Merriman lock up the title by finally getting his first win of the season. Merriman’s win, combined with a fourth-place finish for top challenger and three-time defending series champion Alex Bergeron, allowed him to claim the champion award for the first time.

Track Info: Located across the street from Charlotte Motor Speedway, The Dirt Track at Charlotte opened in 2000. The .400-mile dirt oval has become the traditional season finale of the World of Series Outlaws and DIRTcars of all kinds, from the world finals to the first. levels at the World Short Track Championships the week before for everything from modifications to athlete classes.

Going up: The iRacing World of Outlaws Carquest Sprint Car Series champion will head to Volusia Speedway Park next month to be honored during the DIRTcar Nationals. In addition to receiving their $10,000 champion’s check and official series trophy, they will serve as honorary starters and step into the pace car for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car Series season opener.
