Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement in principle to sign Pedro Porro for €45m (£40m).

The deal will close if all relevant documents are completed by 23:00 (GMT) on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old right-back is set to join Spurs after Sporting president Frederico Varandas told him he would be allowed to leave after Saturday’s Portuguese League Cup final.

Porro could be replaced at Sporting by Barcelona right-back Hector Bellerin.

Poro’s performances for Sporting were rewarded with an international debut for Spain in March 2021, which came in a World Cup qualifier against Georgia.

He has featured regularly for Ruben Amorim’s side this campaign, scoring three goals and providing 11 assists in 25 appearances in all competitions.

Sporting is fourth in the Premier League.
