Final of the European Youth Boys (U-16) Basketball Championship: Lithuania – Spain

At the European Championship being held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, the Lithuanian boys’ national team coached by Tomas Purlis won all three games: they defeated France 73:41, defeated the Dutch national team 80:73 and crushed Israel 98:69.

In the round of 16, the Lithuanians did not spare the Danish basketball players 97:48, and in the quarterfinals, after extra time, they defeated the representatives of Turkey 79:68.

In the semi-finals of the championship, the young Lithuanian basketball talents beat their peers from Greece 77:61 and advanced to the finals.

In the final match of the championship, the Lithuanians will meet their peers from Spain. The latter lost to Greece 47:75 in the first match of Group D, but then won all the games they played.

The Spaniards crushed the Polish basketball players in the round of 16 96:54, defeated the Slovenians 87:68 in the quarterfinals, and beat the French basketball players 78:64 in the semifinals.

The course of the match:

The first points of the match were scored by the Lithuanian national team player Mantas Laurenčikas, but the Spanish basketball players responded with their effective attacks and took the lead 7:4.

However, after playing 3 min. M. Laurenčikas equalizes the result with a long shot – 7:7.

In the first half, both teams exchange lightning attacks, and in the middle of the half, Lithuania takes the lead – 15:11.
