German talent F. Wagner, who drove the Lithuanian national team to despair, paid his respects to Lithuania

“I don’t know about this. I don’t really like it when people compare me to others. Especially when they do it with basketball players like D. Nowitzki. This creates pressure and somewhat diminishes Dirk, because he should not be compared with anyone,” said the 21-year-old 208 cm forward after the match against Lithuania.

The German national team has already won three victories in Group B of the European Championship. On Sunday, the hosts of the tournament beat the Lithuanian national team 109:107 after two overtimes.

F. Wagner was a hard nut to crack for Lithuanians. The basketball player scored 32 points in the match, and his deadly three-pointers drowned Lithuanian hopes.

“I had a lot of fun. Of course, in the match you concentrate on every attack, but you have to pay respect to Lithuania, they are a very good team, the spectators supported them very passionately. It was a lot of fun to play in such an atmosphere, I really liked it, I enjoyed every second”, said the German after the match.

The member of the “Orlando Magic” team also singled out the game of Jonas Valančiūnas. The captain of the Lithuanian national team scored 34 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the match.

“Jonas played an impressive match. He was very physical and caused us a lot of problems behind the basket and also in the battle for the ball. We knew it would be difficult against him, but it was fun to play against a player of this level”, F.Wagneris praised the Lithuanian.

In Group B, the Germans have to play against the Slovenians and the Hungarians.
