Reuters: Russians have already failed using drones obtained from Iran

A senior US administration official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Russia has had “a lot of failures” using Iranian-made drones. The official did not specify what these failures were.

At that time, CNN, citing sources in the US administration, reported that Russia had purchased and delivered to its territory the first batch of Iranian-made drones.

According to the information received, the Russians took the drones from the Iranian airbase at the beginning of August, and they were delivered to Russia in the middle of the month. The Russians started practicing using drones last month in Iran.

“The U.S. believes that Russia has officially acquired and transported to its territory the Mohajer-6, Shahed-129 and Shahed-191 drones,” notes CNN.

All three types of UAVs can be used for reconnaissance and to attack the enemy with guided munitions.

“The US is convinced that Russia intends to import hundreds of such drones to be used for air strikes, electronic warfare and of Ukraine for the shelling of the territory”, according to CNN.
