Poland is one of Lithuania’s most important partners in the field of energy security. In May of this year, the GIPL gas pipeline connecting Lithuania and Poland started operating, which actually expanded the European gas market by integrating the Baltic countries and Finland. This project of great importance further strengthened the energy independence of the region and increased the utilization possibilities of the Klaipėda LNG terminal.
At the end of last year, the Lithuanian-Polish electricity connection “LitPol Link” expansion project was also successfully completed – the “LitPol Link” station near Alytus now has the ability to operate in synchronous mode with continental European networks if necessary.
In his speech, D. Kreivys noted that Lithuania and Poland share many common strategic interests and a united approach to energy security.
“Lithuania and Poland a decade ago, in the context of Nord Stream 1, most actively raised questions about the danger that would arise with Russia by connecting energetically. Today, we can safely look all partners in the eye.
The closest priority of Lithuania’s energy security is desynchronization from the BRELL ring. We will certainly achieve this goal earlier than was planned before Russia’s war against Ukraine,” said the Minister of Energy.
The annual conference organized by Rzeszów Technical University and Ignac Lukasiewicz Institute of Energy Policy is one of the most important industrial events in Poland.
