The National Basketball Association (NBA) is mourning the death by Bill Russell – the most titled player of all time passed away peacefully in Annapolis at the age of 88.
He will be honored at ballparks across the league with a logo featuring the Boston Celtics’ shamrock and the tall man’s number six.
The NBA will retire the No. 6 league-wide honoring the late, legendary player and activist Bill Russell.

At the same time, number six will be “retired” on a league-wide basis. From now on, the players of his national team will not be able to, although the basketball players who have done so until now have permission to keep this number. However, it is expected that they will change the numbers out of respect for the legend.
Last season, LeBron James and a number of other players wore the number six shirt, including Kristaps Porzingis, Alex Caruso, Montrezl Harrell, and Kevin Pangos and Gabriel Deck, who have already returned to Europe.
Playing with a different number would not be new to L. James – he is even better known for the “23” symbol on his jersey during his career.
