The Americas Championship organized by FIBA in Brazil faced considerable disturbances – one match had to be stopped.
The match between the United States of America (USA) and Venezuela was suspended when it started to rain and the roof of the arena leaked. After a long break and the problem not being solved, it was decided to simply stop the match.

The remaining games will keep the original schedule.

FIBA apologized for the technical difficulties and announced that the match would be resumed on September 6, two days after it started. The Americans will have time to play another match against Panama before then.
The USA national team was in the clear lead at the time of the stoppage of the match – 48:21. He shone the brightest on the court after scoring 12 points Craig Sword.
The Americans poured their anger on their rivals after the unsuccessful start of the championships – they lost 67:73 to the Mexican national team. Meanwhile, Venezuela defeated Panama 72-58.
