The USA team won the two-day match in a crushing manner

The American Championship closed the group stage with a crushing result.

United States national team (2/1) in the match of Group C in Recife 101:49 (21:10, 27:11, 22:12, 31:16) swept Venezuela (2/1).

This match is special in that it started on September 4 and finished only two days later. The reason for this is a leak in the roof of the arena, due to which the first attempt to play the match was stopped during the long break.

On September 4, the USA national team ran away 48-21 and just finished the job two days later, almost doubling its already crushing lead.

19 points for the winners were scored by Craig Sword (5/5 double-pointers), 15 by Anthony Lamb (6 rebounds, 4/10 three-pointers), and 12 by Norris Cole (5 rebounds, 6 assists) and Frank Mason, 9 – Jodie Meeks.

No player in the Venezuelan national team scored more than 7 points.

The Americans, who started with a loss to Mexico, still finished first in the group and confidently advanced to the quarterfinals.

Very disappointingly, the Colombian national team led by Juan Palacios was left out of the playoffs, squandering a 16-point lead in the decisive match of Group A and losing to Canada 61:62.

Quarter-final pairings:

Brazil – Dominican Republic

Mexico to Canada

Argentina – Venezuela

USA – Puerto Rico
