“Wolves” beat “Lietkabelis” after receiving players who returned from the national team

The newly formed Alytus “Wolves” team passed the first prize-winner test of the Lithuanian Basketball League (Betsafe-LKL. The team coached by Rimos Kurtinaitis is away 84:66 (19:15, 31:16, 13:19, 21:16) defeated “7bet-Lietkabelis” from Panevėžys, winning the fifth victory out of six in the cycle of preparation for the upcoming season.

Kristupas Žemaitis and Eigirdas Žukauskas, who returned from the national team, made their debut in the “Wolves” ranks, and American Ahmadas Caver, who scored 30 points, led to victory.

Although the hosts started the match more successfully, Wolves scored 8 points without an answer in the middle of the quarter, and by the end of the quarter they were within 7 points – 19:12.

During the four minutes of the second half, the visitors showed excellent defense, allowing the opponents to score only one point, while they scored 15 of them and built up a double-digit advantage (34:16), which exceeded the 20-point limit before the long break – 42:21.

Towards the end of the third quarter, “7bet-Lietkabelis” took the initiative by taking advantage of several errors and fouls by the wolves in the defense, which sent the Panevians to the penalty line. The home team’s points deficit melted to 12 points (60:48). After listening to the instructions of R. Kurtinaitis, they played confidently in the last 10 minutes, regained their solid lead and kept it until the end of the duel.

The Wolves played in this match without the injured Arno Beruchka and midfielder Marcos Delia, who has not yet arrived from Argentina.
